Vivergo Fuels considered a number of potential locations for this major renewable energy investment - Saltend, near Hull, emerged as the preferred site for a number of reasons:
- An attractive combination of existing infrastruacture and utllities, available land and a skilled workforce
- The site's proximity to the UK's wheat belt area, one the the highest yielding in the world
- The availability of combined heat and power technology which will supply steam and power to the Biorefinery
- The deep port location helps to optimise supply chain logistics, particularly through access to Continental Europe

- Planning application submitted - December 2007
- Planning approval - May 2008
- Sanction by JV partners - May 2008
- Site preparation - Summer 2008
- Civil works commence - October 2008
- Mechanical construction (tanks) commences - November 2008
- Commissioning commences 2011
- First product expected 2012
Vivergo Fuels has received excellent support from the Local Authorities, particularly through the planning process and alongside other support services in area, help in recruiting and training a skilled workforce.
