Vivergo Fuels considered a number of potential locations for this major renewable energy investment - Saltend, near Hull, emerged as the preferred site for a number of reasons:

• An attractive combination of existing infrastruacture and utllities, available land and a skilled workforce
• The site's proximity to the UK's wheat belt area, one the the highest yielding in the world
• The availability of combined heat and power technology which will supply steam and power to the Biorefinery
• The deep port location helps to optimise supply chain logistics, particularly through access to Continental Europe

Development Timeline

• Business incorporated - June 2007
• Planning application submitted - December 2007
• Planning approval - May 2008
• Sanction by JV partners - May 2008
• Site preparation - Summer 2008
• Civil works commence - October 2008
• Mechanical construction (tanks) commences - November 2008
• Commissioning commences 2011
• First product expected 2012
